Well, today was day one of work for Project Portage County. Tons of fun stories are coming out of our projects! We've got 4 stories for you tonight...3 students and 1 leader...Here you go...
Wow! Today I got to drive a dump truck. Out team worked at the Lions Camp. We cleared brush, loaded it on the dump truck and I dumped it. Our whole group will sleep well tonight. We have some future Olympic javelin throwers in our group. ~ Nate Wetzel
Our team went to the Harrison's and what an experience we had. After the deck was torn apart & the furniture was moved, we began our day of work. Half way through the day not only was the deck deconstructed, but reconstruction had already began. Talk about the strength of God! I heard zero complaints from groups with ours, and not only did I see hard-working people, but I saw hard-working CHRISTIANS, people after God's own hear. It really made me proud to be a part of this wonderful group. Also, on the mission trip, we were told we'd be helping people we may "know". For me, I went to school with one of the handicapped daughters of these people. Needless to say, it was moving. ~ Molly Przybylski
Today we went to Camp Helen Brachman. We fixed bicycles, made shelves, and cleared brush off of their main road. We also widened it so buses could fit more easily. Our group was able to play games like basketball and double dutch with the inner-city kids that were attending the camp. ~ Katelyn Faulks
Today we demolished a deck at the Harrison's, fixed their front porch with cement, and planted some new flowers and ornamental grass. Our most successful task, however, was getting sun burnt. ~ Noah Whitford
So, that was just a taste of what our day looked like. Quiet time this morning was GREAT, thanks to Nate Wetzel. Jordan and Heath did an amazing job of opening up the life of Phillip to the students last night.
We miss you all! Thanks for your prayers, keep them coming! We're going to try to upload some picture tonight. Check back tomorrow night for more stories....

SUNDAY's Coming!
This Sunday, June 29th we start.
Mandatory...everyone MUST attend one of the 3 church services (8:15, 9:30 or 10:45). Please wear your PPC t-shirt. There will be a brief commissioning in each service which means you will be invited forward during the service and be prayed for by a pastor. Don't worry, you don't have to say anything. You just have to stand there, smile and be prayed for.
Again, you must be here...and should want to be...this is a cool thing. The church is excited and want to give us a nice send-off. See you all Sunday in blue.
Departure: 3 pm...just a reminder.......

details...
a few small details you may want to pay attention to...ladies can bring hair equipment if they desire (flat irons, blow dryers). It's very cultural and since we aren't leaving, it make sense we allow them...please pack a long sleeve shirt. If you are working at a camp and doing brush clearing, you will need long sleeves (poison ivy issues), not to mention long pants...but you already packed those.
Times & Dates
Project Portage County officially begins on Sunday, June 29th at 3 pm. Please meet in the front of the church ready to go at 3...bedding & pillow & duffle/suitcase in hand. We will return on Saturday, July 5th...we should (should) be back to church at 9 pm. See you then!
